A Duo of Festive Cocktail Recipes

To ring in the new year, I’m sharing two of my favorite new cocktail recipes that are perfect for celebrating the beginning of 2023. Taking a cue from our freshly re-inspired bar and cocktail menus debuting in 2023, these two cocktails are fun, refreshing and unique – the aromatic Miss Violette and our Notorious Bond Martini. Each hits all the high notes when it comes to serving memorable cocktails. I hope you enjoy them and we look forward to seeing you on board soon. Cheers!

MISS VIOLETTE
Becoming a worldwide trend and inspired by the love of flowers, Miss Violette was created to offer a unique experience mixing the Mermaid Pink Gin, which is light in color but features great floral notes and berries, with exotic crème de violette liqueur, noted for its intense aromas. This is accompanied by a nice lavender flavor and calls on fresh lemon juice and egg white to create a balanced flavor profile and creamy texture. This makes a beautiful aperitif or after-dinner cocktail, served in a chilled coupe glass with a sprig of dry lavender.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ½ ounces Mermaid Pink Gin
  • 1 ounce crème de violette liqueur
  • ½ ounce lavender syrup
  • ½ ounce fresh lemon juice
  • ½ ounce egg white
  • Sprig of dried lavender, for garnish
  • Lavender water, for garnish

DIRECTIONS

  1. Add all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake well (without ice).
  2. Then add ice and shake well again.
  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  4. Garnish with a sprig of dried lavender and spray the glass with the lavender water.

NOTORIOUS BOND MARTINI
Infusing fruits or spices into spirits creates an interesting twist on classic cocktails, but have you ever tried infusing vodka with fresh dill? Inspired by healthy cuisine and going back to the classics, our Notorious Bond Martini was born with a unique flavor, infusing Grey Goose premium vodka with fresh dill, adding dry vermouth and notes of cardamom. This martini is characterized by its smooth and complex taste –crisp and refreshing with a pleasantly lingering soft dill flavor and just the right touch of bitterness. This is a fantastic cocktail to enjoy before or during dinner – or perhaps as you wait for the ball to drop on New Year’s Eve.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ½ ounces Mermaid Original Gin
  • 1 ounce Grey Goose vodka, infused with dill (see directions below)
  • ½ ounce dry vermouth
  • 2 drops cardamom bitters
  • Small dill sprig, for garnish

INFUSION DIRECTIONS

  1. To create dill-infused vodka, add a good amount of fresh dill – about 5 to 6 large dill sprigs – to your infusion bottle and top with vodka.
  2. Allow to infuse for up to 12 hours in a cool, dark place, and then strain to use.

COCKTAIL DIRECTIONS

  1. Add all the ingredients to a cocktail mixing glass and stir well.
  2. Double strain into a chilled martini glass.
  3. Garnish with the fresh dill sprig.
